Cardi B officiates a same-sex marriage with Raven-Symoné

Cardi B is all about the “WAP” – Weddings and Pride.
And the Grammy-winning rhymer proved it as an officiant of a âpop-upâ lesbian marriage in the latest installment of her Facebook Messenger series âCardi Triesâ.
“By the power bestowed upon me by the State of California and my online course, I now pronounce you wife and wife,” exclaimed Cardi, then pregnant, as wives Brandi Taylor and Shannon Herbert sealed. their wishes with a kiss. The couple have been together since 2018.
Their wedding special was filmed in July, just weeks before ‘Bodak Yellow’ baby boomer, born Belcalis Almanzar, gave birth to her second child with husband Offset, a son, on September 4th.
But the episode’s digital premiere coincided with the LGBTQ + National Coming Out Day awareness party – a celebration of people proudly revealing their sexual orientations and preferences – which is observed on October 11.
Actress Raven Symonè, 35, who co-hosted the fabulous party with Cardi, was the bearer of Taylor and Herbert’s wedding ring and explained the meaning of the party.
âIt’s National Coming Out Day which we all know is a diaper journey for many in the LGBTQ + community,â said Symonè, who married his wife Miranda Maday, 32, last June. .
“Being part of a same-sex marriage is important so that people see that there are differences [from heterosexual unions], obviously, but there are also similarities, âcontinued Symonè.
The “That’s So Raven” star and Cardi helped Taylor, a mom and dance teacher in Los Angeles, secretly organize the ceremony as a surprise for Herbert, a lyrical content creator from Little Rock, Arkansas.

Taylor invited Herbert to the lush gardens of their outdoor California wedding venue under the pretext that they would be having their engagement party on the grounds. She then asked Herbert, the first woman she ever dated, to marry her that day. Herbert said “yes” and was immediately taken to get glamorous before exchanging “I do.” “
Cardi and Symonè then took Taylor to pick out their wedding reception decor and wedding dress.
But taking part in the preparations for the big day prompted the “I Like It” singer to rejoice in her less than sumptuous nuptials with Offset, 29, whose real name is Kiari Cephus.
She privately married rapper “Bad and Boujee” in her bedroom in September 2017.
“I want to remarry,” Cardi moaned as she and Symonè chose soft yellow sets for Taylor and Herbert’s festivities. âBut it’s not about me,â she laughed.
The “Up” performer – who said her mother was “really pissed off” that she wasn’t invited to her and Offset’s intimate nuptials – then raised Taylor when the bride-to-be got emotional then that she was shopping for a wedding dress.
âMy mom isn’t here today either,â Taylor said tearfully. “She doesn’t agree with the lifestyle⦠but sent me a message just wishing me luck.”
Taylor explained that she and her mother have come to a “respectable” understanding of her sexuality and that she “has no resentment about not being here.”
Cardi, whose sister Hennessy Carolina, 25, is in a same-sex relationship with his girlfriend Michelle Diaz, comforted Taylor with a word of encouragement.

âMy mother really struggled [with my sister and her girlfriend] at the start, âtheâ Press âsinger said.
“But who knows, maybe one day you can introduce your wife to your mother and let them hang out,” she continued. âBecause believe me, when I tell you mom, I think she loves my sister’s girlfriend more than she loves us. It’s become such a friendship and it’s so fluid.
Symonè, however, weighed in with the harsh reality that some parents âdon’t comeâ to approve of their child’s lifestyle. But she advised Taylor to âlean onâ Herbert’s supportive mother, Cecilia, for love and acceptance.
After the women agreed on Taylor’s dress, she and Herbert greeted each other in their dresses before walking side by side down the aisle.

Once at the altar, Cardi – who before the ceremony showed her officiating card to prove the legitimacy of her ordination – surprised Herbert and the unsuspecting wedding guests by taking the microphone and announcing, âYou you are probably asking why I am here, I am going to marry these two beautiful ladies.
The stunned crowd applauded as Cardi continued, “[Itâs] not only is a special day for you guys it is a special day for me and i want to thank you guys for making me a part of your lovely trip.
The rapper “Rumors” then invited Herbert and Taylor to exchange their vows.
âShannon,â Taylor began, âI consider you to be my wife, my partner and my teammate in life and in love. I will cherish our union and love you more every day than before.
She went on to promise to always “respect” her wife, “in good times and bad, no matter what obstacles we may face together.”

A surprised Herbert, who hadn’t prepared any written vows, said: “Brandi, the love I have for you, I can’t put it into words.”
âI used to say to my dad, ‘I love you so much!’ Herbert continued, stretching his arms from side to side. “If I could stretch my arms even more, it would be for you.” I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone other than you, âshe added.
Herbert closed his impromptu, albeit touching, promise with, “I love us together, I love our growth, I love where we’re going and I can’t wait to do this with you baby.”
Cardi then introduced Symonè as a “special friend of mine who I admire so much and who has been a part of this process”. The actress took the stage with the rings to applause.
After the brides said ‘yes’ and Cardi gave them their queue to kiss, the stunned couple walked back down the aisle as bride and groom as their loved ones clapped and cheered.

The special day ended with rapper “Ring” grabbing the bridal bouquet and telling Symonè that the experience had inspired her to have a “wedding-marriage”.
Symonè gladly offered to officiate Cardi’s vow renewals if she and Offset were actually hosting the event.
âAfter doing this today, I feel like I really have to sit down with my husband,â Cardi said, noting that they have played with the idea of ââgetting married publicly, but have been âtoo much. Busy “to do so. this.
âBut I want that feeling,â Cardi said. “I want my fucking wedding!” You hear that [Offset]. Give it to me right away.
Herbert took to Facebook on Friday to openly announce his marriage to Taylor.
âTo be able to say that you got married by Cardi B and that Raven-Symonè was the ring bearer is too good to be true,â she captioned an excerpt from their ceremony. “I’ve been remembering this for a while, it’s official, we are MARRIED.”
