Christiansen reveals key target ahead of Villa
Izzy Christiansen assured revenge won’t be a factor ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Aston Villa (1900 GMT), insisting the team are fully focused on their own progress and growth.
Everton Women returned to winning ways at the weekend, with an impressive performance and a 2-0 triumph over Charlton, setting up a Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City.
Attention now quickly shifts to league action and another clash with the Villans, who beat Chris Roberts’ side 2-0 before the international break.
Although the injuries from that defeat are still fresh, England midfielder Christiansen thinks the Blues side don’t need any extra motivation ahead of their trip to Birmingham.
“It’s nothing about Aston Villa,” she said Everton TV after Sunday’s game.
“For us as a team, it’s all about us.
“It doesn’t matter if we played them yesterday or in three months, it’s not about revenge. It’s about doing what’s right for us and what’s right for Everton.

Izzy Christiansen reflected on Sunday’s 2-0 win at Charlton in the Women’s FA Cup, before focusing on Wednesday night’s trip to face Aston Villa.
“Using this win over Charlton as a real building block because I think there was some great football played on Sunday.
“We know Aston Villa are a good team.
“Obviously losing to them a few weeks ago was disappointing.
“We’re a little more aware of where we are as a team now.
“We’ve had some really good training sessions under our belt and I’m confident we’ll continue to develop as a team.
“Some things are out of our control but what we can control is how we perform and how we prepare to perform is something we are taking good care of at the moment.”

While insisting it won’t be possible to get carried away with the weekend’s Cup triumph over Charlton, Christiansen believes the Toffees can be confident in the way they approached the encounter.
“It’s enjoying the heights and enjoying this win over Charlton,” she added.
“We scored two great goals, played fantastic football.
“We want to use this result as a building block to build momentum.
“As long as we can control the elements that are under our control, I think this team will start moving forward.”
