Detailed WhatsApp reactions for shared photos are ready for beta testers
It’s only been a few days since they first appeared
Reactions are everything these days. Why use words to acknowledge dinner reservations when you can just “like” a message instead? This saves time, saves words and can even prevent misunderstandings in group chat. WhatsApp only added reactions this month – we know we’re as surprised as you are – but the company is already improving them a bit in its latest beta update.
It’s only been a few days since we learned of some improvements for upcoming album reactions on WhatsApp, but we’re already seeing it appear in the latest beta version of the app. The people at WABetaInfo spotted these updated reactions in version 126.96.36.199 on Android. It’s a pretty quick turnaround from a feature in development, proving that WhatsApp is working fast to catch up with the competition on reactions.
In case you missed it in the previews, this change allows anyone to see specific reactions for each image or video in a gallery without having to open the album. Instead of just showing the emoji used by each user, WhatsApp will show a thumbnail for each media liked – all on a single existing page outside of the gallery.
We will probably have to wait a while before this update makes it to stable releases. If you’re curious, you can try signing up for WhatsApp’s beta program – or manually install APK – to check for yourself. Be warned – probably not all testers will see this feature.
