Facebook Messenger update adds new features

Facebook’s Messenger app has just received a new update that includes features aimed at improving the user experience. These include new discussion themes, a quick response bar, and the ability to create QR codes and links to send and receive money through the Facebook Pay service only in the US.
Among the new themes that have been added, one is modeled on Olivia Rodrigo’s new album, Sour. The theme was launched to celebrate the album and even features Olivia’s iconic stickers. Another theme takes you underwater with its focus on World Oceans Day, and there’s even one that celebrates the Fast & Furious movie, F9. It should be noted that these themes have made their way to Instagram as well.
Quick Response Bar is an innovative way to respond to an image or video shared by your friends. In chat, once you tap the media and it goes full screen, you will be able to invoke a quick access keyboard while continuing to watch the video or photo, in order to speed up your response speed. This quick response bar appears at the bottom of any photo or video you’re viewing.
Regarding the third feature, Sateesh Kumar Srinivasan, Messaging Product Manager, Facebook Messenger, said, âFinally, we have deployed the ability for US Messenger users to leverage QR codes and payment links when they want to send or request money with Facebook. Pay, even if they are not logged in on Facebook. No need to download a separate payment app or add new contacts on the fly! To access your personal QR code and payment link, go to your Messenger settings and press âFacebook Payâ. Just share the payment link or allow your friends to scan your QR code to send or request money.
This update for Facebook Messenger is already available for the iOS and Android versions of the app.
