Reports and app download data are always interesting to read and surprise the reader while providing interesting information about the future. September’s list of ST’s best social apps is nothing short of and sure to provide some interesting insight into the social media industry.
Topping the September list is none other than small format video giant TikTok. Being the fastest growing social networking app in a long time, TikTok has once again maintained its legacy and managed to gain over 59 million downloads in September 2021. With the TikTok app already taking by storm the US market, one may wonder that the majority of these 59 million downloads could come from the United States, however they were from a Douyin country in China, about 16% of these downloads were from Douyin. The United States is not far behind, however, with facilities estimated at 10 percent, it ranks second.
Now let’s move on to another social app that allows people to stay connected over long distances, Facebook owned by Mark Zuckerberg, which remained the second most downloaded non-game app in the world as of September 2021. Facebook managed to win over 51 million downloads in September, placing it just behind TikTok, proving that Facebook is catching up to its competition. The countries polled for having the most Facebook installations were India with 29% after India was Indonesia with a solid 7%.
After Facebook, it was his daughter company Instagram that occupied the 3rd position in the list and is therefore the third most downloaded social application in September 2021.
After Instagram in 4th and 5th position are again applications owned by the social giant ‘Facebook’. In 4th place, WhatsApp and Messenger followed shortly after.
This data also includes App Store downloads and Google Play downloads worldwide between the dates of September 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. However, the apps that are not included in this list are Apple apps and preinstalled Google apps, as only specific apps have been included. Third-party stores are not counted in Android’s estimates.
In the overall list of downloads, TikTok managed to reach the first position, Facebook was at the second number, the third number was reached by Instagram, and WhatsApp was seen in the fourth position.
The App Store downloads list had TikTok in number one, the National Anti-Fraud Center was on number two, YouTube was seen on number three, WhatsApp on number four, and Instagram on number five.
Finally, the Google Play downloads list had the social app Facebook in first position, Instagram in second, TikTok in third, Messenger in fourth, and the latest WhatsApp social app in fifth.
