Man posts ‘obscene’ photos of woman from fake Facebook profile, detained: police

Delhi: accused works as a helper in workshop, police say (representation)

New Delhi:

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of his brother-in-law’s sister and uploading his objectionable photographs, police said on Wednesday.

The defendant, identified as Nitesh Pandey, allegedly created the profile to take revenge on his brother-in-law’s family for torturing and leaving his sister soon after the wedding, they said.

Pandey, who is from Bihar, lives in Gurgaon where he works as a workshop helper, they said.

The arrest was made by the Kamla Market Cyber ​​Police Station following a complaint filed on January 3 by a woman.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that an unknown person created a fake Facebook profile using her name and photographs and wrote objectionable remarks under the profile for herself and her older sister, police said.

The accused was located through information gathered from the FB profile URL and the use of technical surveillance, said Deputy (Central) Police Commissioner Shweta Chauhan.

During questioning, Pandey revealed that his sister married Kshitij Pandey, the victim’s brother, on May 2 last year, but soon after the wedding he started torturing his sister and her. ‘finally left, the officer said.

“In order to teach his brother-in-law’s family a lesson, he created a fake profile using the victim’s name and uploaded photos of her and her sister with vulgar and objectionable remarks,” said the DCP.

The cell phone used to create the profile and download the content has been recovered, she said, adding that further investigation is underway.
