Mark of a Phasebook – The Economic Times
“Stay focused, keep shipping,” is a mantra that has served Zuckerberg well, through the company’s humble beginnings at Harvard, its lean years in Silicon Valley and its years of growth. He posted the motivational sign on the walls of the corporate office to keep employees focused on the ongoing mission, “empowering people to share and making the world more open and connected.”
Accustomed to the classics, Zuckerberg also remembers the Greek myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun on wings made of feathers and wax and thus fell from the sky. Is Facebook a modern-day Icarus? Or, like the Greek myth of the phoenix, will this company rise from the ashes to be reborn?
What the future holds for Facebook, no one can tell. A company in flux, Facebook continues to forge with new products in the works, while Wall Street watches nervously and wonders if the stock will rally. These are turbulent times, so what should a CEO do? Mark Zuckerberg must stay calm, hold the helm and head for a safe harbor.
