New Facebook Poll Highlights How Global Pandemic Has Changed Ecommerce World / Digital Information World
The rise of the global pandemic in 2020 has brought many changes to the world and among all these changes the change in the way people shop, their preferences and tastes have also been observed.
Facebook recently released a report that shows all the ways the pandemic has brought about changes in the way people shop.
The investigation report acknowledged the fact that due to the pandemic and the implementation of lockdowns, schools were not only moving online, but also shopping. Almost half of the world has started buying products online from various well-known brands or small businesses limited to the Internet. However, there is one thing that people were very particular about the security of their data and tried their best not to share their data.
This was bad news for Facebook considering how the app targets ads in preference to their users across all the data collected and Apple’s new ATT feature was already a hindrance in their targeting.
But what Facebook has noted is that 69% of those who shop online feel very connected to personalized ads of what they prefer, but are reluctant to share their data.
On this subject, Facebook wrote that only if they found a way to explain to their users how their data is used and to gain their trust that many would start to trust apps with their data.
Then the report focused on how much a mobile phone has impacted people’s lives during this pandemic, and is not limited to people shopping online through the small device in their hands, but now people rely on phones and internet reviews before making the decision to buy a product in the store as well, to ensure its reliability and longevity.
One thing that was also observed when shopping online about the pandemic was the interaction between shoppers and businesses on online messaging apps like WhatsApp and Messenger which increased by 40 percent and according to the survey, from many consumers liked this interaction because it gave them a sense of certainty about their purchase.
In view of this, Facebook has now started working to make all of its acquired online messaging apps like Instagram Direct, WhatsApp and Messenger more advanced in terms of communication between consumers and businesses.
One thing that was also highlighted in the report was the fact that while people are more intrigued by ads tailored to their preferences, what they are most likely to buy is a good product rated by an influencer from trust.
Online influencers now have a whole community that trusts them with their reviews. All the products that received great reviews from trusted influencers increased their sales.
Facebook in its report highlighted the impacts and changes in the way people shop very well and it is true that the pandemic has affected our lives in more ways than we realize.
