There is no doubt that the elements of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are about to see a massive increase in importance. On the one hand, AR glasses overlay visual elements onto your view of the real world. On the other hand, VR headsets allow you to immerse yourself in a completely virtual environment and engage with brands and so on.

It should be mentioned that the rise of AR and VR elements will open the door to endless opportunities for marketers. And to give us all a clear picture of the same, Facebook has released a new report that covers the advancements in AR and VR and what the future holds for the technology.

Access, Agility, People and Utility were presented as the vital signals guiding the next step in AR / VR advancement.

The report explained how the advancements of AR and VR will be very similar to previous technological advancements, that is, the importance of the elements in our daily life will increase in the near future.

Additionally, Facebook boasts that around 3 in 4 (75%) business owners are likely to rely on AR and VR technology over the next two years. In addition, global spending in this area is expected to be multiplied by 6.

User demand for AR content is also steadily declining. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise because there are a lot of people interested in e-commerce.

AR and VR technology has the potential to provide dynamic opportunities to enhance their experience of product discovery and brand connection. Put simply, augmented reality and virtual reality can very well bridge the gap between in-person and online shopping.

The Facebook report also found that searches for augmented reality and virtual reality on Facebook have grown almost twice as fast in developing markets as in established markets.

The appeal is definitely growing in several markets around the world. This is a clear indication that unique and interactive technology platforms will play a big role in the future and provide businesses with a plethora of exciting ways to interact with their customers.

According to Facebook itself, AR and VR can completely change the way people interact with brands and vice versa. Whether it’s meeting renowned clothing designers one-on-one or having a master creative director reinvent a house, the possibilities are endless.

However, there is still time before AR and VR can take giant strides. The technology is still in its infancy, but it’s only a matter of time before the next big change takes shape.
