PNE loan turns into a face-to-face friendly duo and striker embroiled in penalty drama
Preston North End currently has several players away from Deepdale at clubs in England, Scotland and Ireland.
Winger Josh Ginnelly is at Hearts, while Josh Harrop, Jayden Stockley and Josh Earl are currently plying their trade in League One with Ipswich Town, Charlton Athletic and Burton Albion respectively.
David Nugent and Ethan Walker are alongside League Two’s Tranmere Rovers and Carlisle United while young duo Adam O’Reilly and Jack Baxter are in Ireland in Waterford and Cork City.
The two Irish clubs faced each other this weekend in a friendly match, with Cork winning 3-0.
O’Reilly and Baxter both played for their respective loan teams, with the former close to being on the scoresheet with a free kick that erupted right next to it.
Ginnelly was not part of the Hearts squad that beat Dundee, while Nugent played 73 minutes of Tranmere’s 1-0 loss at Prenton Park to Crawley Town.
Walker came in for the final 15 minutes plus stoppage time in Carlisle’s 3-1 road loss to Morecambe.
Harrop lasted 68 minutes of Ipswich’s 3-1 loss to Gillingham, while Stockley played the second half of Charlton’s goalless draw against Oxford United after succeeding Chuks Aneke and being embroiled in late drama.
He won a time-out penalty after being tripped by Alex Gorrin with less than a minute left, but U’s stopper Jack Stevens deftly saved Ronnie Schwartz’s kick.
Earl was an unused replacement as he watched Burton beat Peterborough United 2-1.
