Sherwood claims player will definitely leave amid Tottenham Hotspur rumor
According to Eurosport, Tottenham are keen to sign Ings from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2021.
Former Spurs and Aston Villa manager Sherwood, who now works as an expert for Sky Sports, believes the former Liverpool forward will leave the Saints this summer.
Ings did not sign a new contract with Southampton again, and Sherwood thinks he will be leaving the Saints for a reduced rate.
Sherwood said about Ings on Sky Sports News (2:55 p.m., March 6, 2021) “I think it’s probably gone beyond that now. I’m sorry for the Southampton fans, but I think Danny Ings would probably now be looking to move elsewhere. I think there would be a queue for Ings. Reduced fees because he only has one year left on his contract.
Leaving Southampton for Tottenham Hotspur?
Ings couldn’t make a massive impact at Liverpool due to injury issues but the 28-year-old has been superb for Southampton.
According to Who scored, the 28-year-old scored 22 goals and provided two assists in the Premier League last season, and so far this campaign he has scored eight goals and given three assists in the league.
Tottenham have a good attacking unit, but Carlos Vinicius is only on loan from Benfica.
If Spurs decide not to make Vinicius’ loan deal permanent, then a place will open in Tottenham’s squad for Ings.
