Bombay, June 8: You may have received a message on WhatsApp telling you that you can win a Tata Safari by completing a quiz. The WhatsApp message, which also contains a link, claims the “offer” is made because automotive major Tata Motors Cars has reported sales exceeding 30 million. The post goes viral on WhatsApp as well as Twitter, and people are filling out the quiz in hopes of winning Tata Safari. But, the point is, this message is wrong. Ratan Tata is calling fake news again as rumors quote him as saying “2020 is the year to survive, not to make a profit.”
“Tata Motors Cars, celebrates sales exceeding 30 million! Thanks to the questionnaire, you will have the chance to get a TATA SAFARI (sic),” the viral post read. While some filled out the questionnaire, others took to Twitter and asked Tata Motors if the claimed offer was made by the company. Tata Motors Cars has now issued a statement that the offer or program is being distributed “with the malicious intent to allow data theft and phishing of anyone who opens the links.” Are Tata and Tesla going to team up?
