“The Crown” star Claire Foy to play Sheryl Sandberg in new series on Facebook, Entertainment News
Claire Foy will take on the role of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg in a new series on the social media company.
According to reports, Foy will play the role of Sandberg in the drama titled “Doomsday Machine”.

The upcoming show is based on Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang’s book, “An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Domination,” as well as their reporting on the company for the New York Times.
The New Yorker’s Andrew Marantz had also reported on Facebook and his shortcomings, and his work will help shape the story as well.

Ayad Akhtar is working on the screenplay and will be the executive producer of the story along with Frenkel and Kang. Marantz will work as a consultant.
“Doomsday Machine” will chronicle the relationship between Mark Zuckerberg and Sandberg, and the hurdles Facebook has had to overcome to become the most profitable social media platform.
Interestingly, the show’s announcement came just days after Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen testified in Senate on Wednesday.
The series will cover the 2016 election amid the rise in disinformation, XCHECK – a program that is said to have protected important users – former President Trump, and Facebook has been talking a lot about the rules and regulations.

“Doomsday Machine” will also discuss the mental health risks Instagram poses to its young users, and how Zuckerberg used Facebook’s news feed to promote articles that portrayed Facebook in a good light.
Other than Claire Foy, no other casting details have yet been shared. The question of who will play Mark Zuckerberg and the rest of the main Facebook players in the series has yet to be revealed.
