Tom Holland reveals he’s in a WhatsApp group with fellow Spider-Man cast Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield

Actor Tom Holland has said that since only three actors have played Spider-Man on the big screen, it can be an alienating experience. So he built on the friendship he forged with actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, who both also played the Marvel superhero. In fact, they even have a WhatsApp group.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1 before the release of Spider-Man: No Path Home, Holland was shown a picture of him and Garfield hugging, and asked about it.
He said, âIt’s an interesting thing because when you play Spider-Man there are only three people to have made it on the big screen. And it is quite an alienating experience. I have friendships and relationships with people that I can voice my concerns and talk about my issues and things like that. But there is nothing quite like doing it with someone who has donned the costume. And for me, I don’t know Andrew very well, but I saw him at that party and said I had to go say hello. We shared something that so few people have shared. And it’s interesting, we went to another party after that and I ran into Tobey, only 20 minutes later. Over the past few years, we’ve grown a little closer, because we’ve realized that we share something that only the three of us share.
Holland pointed out, once again, that the two actors were not going to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as has long been rumored, but said he would like to work with them someday. It was then that he revealed that they were part of a WhatsApp group together.
âWe actually have a WhatsApp group,â he said, adding, âI don’t know how it was set up, but we ran into Tobey at a Japanese restaurant a while ago and I took his number. I think I set it up. He joked that no one has replied to his messages on the group yet. “I think I’m the only one who’s ever spoken to it,” he said with a laugh.
Garfield played the character in two films – The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Tobey Maguire was the first to play the superhero on the big screen; he appeared as Spider-Man in a film trilogy directed by Sam Raimi. Holland was introduced as the character of Captain America: Civil War in 2016. He has since appeared as Spider-Man in two Avengers films and two solo films. No Way Home, the third, is slated for release on December 16.
