Twitterati Roast Facebook’s new VR remote work app
It looks like the COVID-19 pandemic is looming right outside the doors of our schools, colleges and offices, like a bouncer denying everyone entry. Work and education are now limited to the computer screen, and a new virtual world has been created.
Mark Zuckerberg, the human bridge between the physical world and the digital world, on Thursday launched a new virtual reality remote working app that lets you attend meetings in a digital meeting room with a personalized avatar. Users can wear Facebook’s Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets and zoom into meetings.
When the app launched, it was instantly caught by the eyes of social media, and internet users just couldn’t stay silent. Reactions on social media have been mixed. While some people hailed Facebook’s step towards the “Metaverse” through VR technology, some people hated the new invention and shared some hilarious reactions.
One user wrote: “Me, coming out of an hour-long VR meeting that could have been an email.
The pandemic has seen the emergence of new terms such as “zoom fatigue” to express their virtual meeting issues. However, with the Metaverse app launched by Mark, it seems like people have no way out of these terrible virtual meetings. A Twitter user explained how Mark managed to combine the two worst aspects of working from home and working from a desk into one app.
Person: Mark Zuckerberg: I created an app that combines the worst aspects of working from home and working in the office. THANKS. https://t.co/WEgd9f707u

One user shared a photo from the Star Wars movie involving a holographic figure and wrote, “Sorry I’m late guys. I couldn’t remember the meeting password. Others have found a “silver lining” to innovation.
On the positive side, you don’t even have to put on clothes anymore, you can just dress up your avatar. with Zoom you must at least wear a shirt. So little silver lining. – The lowest pit (@EvelynDarque) August 19, 2021
MARK ZUCKERBERG: What if we made Zoom… worse? LIEUTENANTS FACEBOOK: Sir, that is not possible. It can’t be done
ZUCK [grinning devilishly]: This is where you are wrong. Give me my space helmet
