  • Twitter confirms that Agarwal was born later in 1984 compared to Zuckerberg, born May 14 of the same year.
  • According to BloombergBerkshire Hathaway Inc. CEO Warren Buffett is the oldest CEO of the S&P 500 at 91.
  • Agarwal was appointed on Monday to succeed Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey after his resignation.

The new CEO of Twitter Inc., Parag Agrawal, is now the youngest CEO of the S&P 500, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Agrawal, 37, was named on Monday to succeed Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey and is the same age as Meta Platform Inc CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

For security reasons, Twitter has not disclosed Agrawal’s date of birth. However, the social media platform confirmed that he was born later in 1984 than Zuckerberg’s birthday on May 14.

Through Bloomberg, Dorsey, at 45, was already one of a dozen youngest CEOs in the collection of America’s biggest companies.

Stanford Graduate School of Business professor David Larcker said: “I don’t think the issue of age is that important, especially for companies like this. It could be an advantage. “

“The fact that Dorsey is stepping down from the board, so he won’t be like a phantom CEO, he has to have real confidence in him.”

According to data compiled by Bloomberg, Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, is the oldest CEO of the S&P 500 at 91 years old.

The date showed that the average age of a CEO among the top 500 companies was around 58, however, the broader trend in CEO age still does not favor young people.

Meanwhile, data on S&P 500 companies measured over the past two decades by executive recruiter Spencer Stuart shows a small but steady increase in CEO age.

The newly appointed CEO joined Twitter in 2011. Meanwhile, former CEO Dorsey will remain on the board of the San Francisco-based company until his tenure expires in 2022, Twitter announced Monday in a report. communicated.

Agrawal is also joining the board, where he will also be a statistical outlier. The average age of an S&P 500 director is 63, according to Spencer Stuart.
