Urgent warning to anyone using Facebook Messenger on iPhone and Android

An urgent warning has been sent to any Facebook Messenger user who uses the platform on iPhone or Android.
Owners of Apple and Android devices have been urged to quit the popular messaging app for security reasons.
Cyber ââsecurity experts have criticized the messaging service, which doesn’t come with end-to-end encryption.
Messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, that have end-to-end encryption ensure that only you and the person you’re communicating with can read or listen to what’s being sent.
Facebook has pledged to make end-to-end encryption the default in all of its messaging services, although the company has told users not to expect it on Facebook Messenger or Instagram Direct until at least 2022.
Cyber ââsecurity expert Zak Doffman wrote in a Forbes article: âMessenger users reading this should switch their personal chats to WhatsApp (or Signal) and leave Messenger for trivial communications and children.
“You definitely shouldn’t use it as your default messaging platform if you’re on Android, where switching from the default operating system is an option, unlike iOS.”
Facebook Messenger responded to the complaints.
In a brief statement, the tech department told the publication, âWe are developing strong security measures designed to prevent damage from happening in the first place and to give people controls to react if it does.
âWorking together also gives us more information to identify abusive accounts and allows us to introduce behind-the-scenes security features, such as restricting interactions between adults and minors. “
But technical experts also backed Messenger in its decision not to encrypt the platform.
Among the positive points of the current system, there is protection for children who could be the target of predators.
