Want to turn off mention notification on WhatsApp groups? Here’s how to do it | Technology news

The popular messaging platform WhatsApp has come up with some major updates that essentially turn off any group notifications you’ve been mentioned in.
According to WaBetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp developments, the instant messaging platform recently activated four features. âWhatsApp activates 4 features today! Always mute, to turn off chats forever. No calls for verified companies. Media guidelines. New user interface and storage usage tools, âWABetaInfo wrote on Twitter.
Disabling group notifications has become a common occurrence these days and WhatsApp moving towards this feature speaks volumes about the need for a disable groups feature. However, turning off the notification won’t be enough, as users can still receive notifications when someone mentions them in a message.
“For this situation, WhatsApp supports a feature to turn off this type of notification. They don’t explain how to do it in WhatsApp, but it’s easier than you might think. Every time you get a notification from group, WhatsApp checks if the group is not muted: in this case, the notification is obviously presented, âWaBetaInfo said in its report.
“If the group is deactivated and the message mentions your phone number or quotes another message that you have previously sent, WhatsApp checks if the individual chat of the sender of that message is deactivated: if it is, WhatsApp does not will not present the notification, “he further added.
This mute feature works so that if you don’t receive notifications from a group, you can turn off the sender’s individual chat if you’re not used to chatting with that person privately.
This feature is available on WhatsApp for iOS, Android and Web / Desktop.
