WhatsApp is bringing back a ‘fan-favorite’ feature following user backlash
AFTER facing user criticism, WhatsApp is bringing back a camera feature for Apple iOS devices.
The popular communication app’s recent beta 126.96.36.199 update has seen iOS and Android users’ access to the camera media bar change.
The feature initially allowed WhatsApp users to quickly access and scroll through photos and videos to share with friends and family on the app.
However, after the recent beta update from the Meta-owned company, the feature is now devoid of the scroll tool, relegating its access to only one image at a time.
This, in turn, created more actions for users to send images and videos, which resulted in a lot of backlash and complaints.
Although, now it looks like the app, which has more than a billion users worldwide, is reversing its course – at least, for iOS users, according to WAbetaInfo.
The decision to bring back the “scroll” feature appears to be a big hit with WhatsApp users who have taken to Twitter to share their joy.
“I felt like I was using Signal when it was gone. It’s good that they canceled it,” one user said.
“Good thing [WhatsApp] did this,” a second user wrote, after remarking with a series of thumbs-up emojis.
If you are an iPhone user and signed up for the TestFlight betting program (available for free on the Apple Store), you can download and install WhatsApp 188.8.131.52 beta for iOS, according to Radar Tech.
Once installed, this version of the app should restore the media camera scrollbar on WhatsApp.
In other news, the makers of a spooky new horror game say the title is so disturbing they’ve been forced to censor it on PlayStation.
Apple has announced updates to AirTags following claims that the coin-sized tracking devices are being used to stalk people.
And TikTok announced new rules, banning users who name or mislead others.
